A Sunday Evening Delight at Our Go-To Sushi Spot
Kita, our beloved sushi haven located in Southridge, is just a short trip from our house and has been a go-to spot for us for years. The restaurant, beautifully remodeled a few years ago, continues to impress with its vibrant colors and tasteful lighting, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes every visit special.

Every time we dine at Kita, we're treated like royalty. From the moment we walk in, Dan, who runs the show, ensures that every detail is taken care of, making us feel like the king and queen of the restaurant. Dino, the sushi chef, always brings a smile to our faces with his sharp wit and humor, making our sushi experience even more enjoyable. And Widi, one of our favorite waiters, never fails to greet us warmly, even when we're not lucky enough to be seated in his section. The exceptional service and genuine warmth of the staff make each visit to Kita a truly special experience. We always leave with smiles on our faces, feeling appreciated and looking forward to our next visit.

On this visit, though, we decided to switch things up and explore some kitchen entrées. Having had sushi countless times, we already know just how exceptional it is. Instead, we wanted to try something different.

Tara opted for one of her all-time favorites: the Pan Seared Faroe Island Salmon. This dish is a masterpiece, combining sushi-grade salmon pan-seared to perfection in garlic butter. The richness of the salmon pairs beautifully with the subtle sweetness of the sweet potato mash, creating a harmonious balance of flavors. The grilled asparagus adds a nice, smoky note, while the house-made lemongrass pesto brings a refreshing, citrusy brightness that elevates the dish. Topped with crispy onions and scallions, the dish has a delightful crunch that adds texture and depth, making each bite a symphony of flavors and sensations.

Josh, on the other hand, decided to try something new and went for the Red Curry - Mixed (Beef, Shrimp, and Chicken). This dish did not disappoint. The curry, made with creamy coconut milk and a perfectly balanced red curry spice, envelops the tender beef, succulent shrimp, and juicy chicken in a luxurious, flavorful sauce. The mixed vegetables add a nice variety of textures, from the slight crunch of bell peppers to the tender bite of carrots and broccoli. Served with steamed rice and topped with fresh cilantro, this dish is a comforting, warming meal that’s both hearty and satisfying. The flavors meld together beautifully, with the spice of the curry complemented by the richness of the coconut milk, creating a dish that’s both complex and utterly delicious.

This sushi roll pictured is a true work of art, and though we weren't fortunate enough to have ordered it this time, it immediately caught our eye. This "Chef's Special" looks absolutely outstanding, with layers of fresh, vibrant ingredients that are sure to deliver an explosion of flavors. The roll is beautifully garnished, with a variety of textures and colors that make it as visually appealing as it is likely delicious. While we're not sure what's inside, the meticulous presentation and the chef's obvious skill leave no doubt that we would gladly devour it in a second. Next time, this roll will be at the top of our must-try list!

The Fried Gyoza appetizer at Kita is a must-try, featuring perfectly fried pork dumplings that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Topped with fresh scallions for a burst of flavor, these dumplings are delicious on their own, but it's the accompanying tongarashi spicy ponzu sauce that takes them to the next level. The sauce is so irresistibly good that we could practically drink it! Each bite is a delightful combination of savory pork, crispy wrapper, and the perfect kick of spice from the sauce, making this appetizer the perfect start to any meal.

This sushi photo gallery showcases a vibrant and mouthwatering array of rolls from our previous visits, each meticulously crafted and bursting with flavor. Featured rolls include the Citrus Salmon, a refreshing combination of fresh salmon with a zesty citrus twist, and the Surf & Turf, which perfectly marries the rich flavors of land and sea. The Spicy Yellow Tail roll adds a kick of heat, balanced by the delicate texture of the yellowtail. Also pictured is the Sashimi Sampler, a stunning assortment of the freshest, most tender slices of raw fish, highlighting the skill and artistry that goes into every dish at Kita. Each piece is a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality and innovation, making this gallery a feast for both the eyes and the palate.
As always, Kita exceeded our expectations, providing not just a meal but an experience that keeps us coming back for more. Whether you're in the mood for sushi or something from the kitchen, Kita never disappoints.

And dinner ended with this beautiful sunset. How perfect!
