Super Simple Smash Burgers
Ingredients:
1 lb 80/20 ground beef (or leaner)
2 tablespoons burger seasoning of choice (we prefer "The Blend" by Kenders)
8 slices cheese of choice
2 tablespoons butter
Directions:
Preheat griddle by setting two burners to high and allowing it to heat up for 10 minutes when using a 36-inch Blackstone.
Loosely form the ground beef into 8 equal-sized balls.
Brush 1 tablespoon of butter onto the hot side of the griddle, spreading it to cover the cooking area.
Place four balls of beef on the griddle, leaving enough space between each for smashing.
Place a sheet of parchment paper on top of each ball and smash them very thin using a large spatula or burger press. Smashing the burgers thinly helps ensure a crispy texture. A heavy, sturdy burger press is very helpful for this step.
Sprinkle 1/2 tablespoon of seasoning on each patty immediately and cook for 1 ½ to 2 minutes, until the outer edges become brown and crispy.
Use a sturdy spatula to scrape the burgers off the griddle and flip them.
